Operations Sync

The meeting started on time.

Evan waited until the last square on the screen turned green before speaking. Cameras on. Microphones muted. Names spelled correctly. Operations, aligned.

“Thanks, everyone,” he said. “I’ll keep this tight.”

A slide appeared. Familiar colors. Familiar shapes. The baseline, now labeled Post-Adjustment.

“We implemented the workflow alignment changes this morning,” Evan continued. “Early indicators are positive. Task distribution variance is already narrowing.”

A few heads nodded. Someone typed.

“We did see a brief spike in response time from the intake form,” he said, “but that’s expected during transition. The signal is clean.”

No one asked what had caused the spike.

Evan clicked forward.

“Sentiment drift remains within acceptable range,” he said. “There were a few outlier comments, but nothing that suggests systemic strain.”

He paused, just long enough for anyone to speak.

No one did.

“Good,” Evan said, smiling slightly. “That tells me the direction is landing.”

One manager cleared her throat. “There were a couple of questions about task reassignment,” she said. “Some people felt—”

Evan nodded, already prepared.

“Yes. We anticipated that,” he said. “That’s normal during recalibration. The system tends to surface discomfort before it stabilizes.”

He didn’t say whose discomfort.

“We’ll monitor,” he added. “But at this point, there’s no indication we need to intervene.”

The slide deck ended on a clean summary: STABILITY ACHIEVED.

Evan glanced at the clock. Two minutes left. Plenty of time.

“If there’s nothing else,” he said, “let’s stay the course.”

No objections. No escalations.

The meeting ended the way it began—quietly, efficiently, and convinced it had done its job.

Evan closed his laptop.

Somewhere in Operations, the system adjusted again.
